This family winery has been around for 300 years. Marko, the son, is part of this new generation of winemaker, who went to university, obtained a degree in Oenology, and is investing in technology and expanding while maintaining quality production. Fakin is receiving a lot of attention on an international level, consistently receiving high scores and getting better with each vintage. Fakin utilizes sustainable and organic farming practices.

Vinification

Harvested by hand. Maceration and fermentation for 21 days. Aged in stainless steel for 8 months.

Tasting Note

This Teran is medium-bodied with a gorgeous ruby red color which ages into brick red tones. This wine presents complex aromas of chokeberry, forest floor, green apple, sawdust, and vanilla. A fresh, seductive palate of forest fruits and herbs is nicely balanced with tickling acids and firm but approachable tannins. Lingers on the palate with minerality and pepper. You get a great sense of Istrian terroir in this bottle.

Serving Note

This wine only gets better with age and loves to stretch and breathe after opening. Croatians pair this Teran with a local pasta called fuži with truffles.
